Bands at The Bear

The Bear Inn is proud to introduce

Bands at The Bear!

Now here at The Bear Inn we proudly appreciate the vibrations that come from all around the world that make us feel warm inside, that make us move our feet to the beat, that makes us feel a little bit better about what we are exposed to and realise in reality we thank the goddess we're still alive.

Lets take a look at the bands that have given us the pleasure of listening to them at The Bear so far...

About

Doctor Nut's latest impression: "Like Iron Maiden rocking out with Beethoven" - Dave Thomas, Artscare
Doctor Nut is a whimsical three piece rock band praised for their inclusion of comedy, Olde English folklore and Western classical music in their songs. Their non-conformity to conventional songwriting has earned the band a firmly fixed place in the hearts of many over the four years they’ve existed.

Lyrically tackling issues involving dwarves, professors, owls, butlers and the like head on, ‘The Nut’ enjoy status as true originals in their native Bristol. So much so, that these West-country fruitcakes have been blessed with a slot at Bristol’s 02 Academy and even a support slot with The Fall.

Description

The chaps have garnished a reputation for peppering their delightful compositions with irregular time metres, ‘unexpected’ cadences and songs about Brian Blessed, thus somewhat justifying the notion that their music may be ‘a bit proggy’, but if anything, Doctor Nut prefers the term ‘Ultra-British Hilarity’ or simply ‘Owl’.

"If you are into quoting Monty Python with your friends at bus stops, know what WoW stands for, and own volumes 1-3 of Queen’s greatest hits, you’ll like this."
